Last Night I Dreamt

Last night I dreamt words that I said were birds! Some were blue; some were red. so I needed to write. Words I spoke would take flight and then go over everyone’s head! In my mouth the birds puffed out each cheek, but I’d lose my words, were I to speak! Then one zealous red bird, (a most passionate word), pecked inside of my mouth with its beak! Words went flying away with that poke! Where was paper to write? A cruel joke!! By my bed was a pen. I reached out for it.
