Last Night
You promised that we’d never part;
I felt secure beside your beating heart.
Your arms, so gentle, holding me,
You whispered, ‘This is how it’s meant to be.’
I laughed, ‘I dreamed you’d run away.’
But then I woke, alone: another day…
