Knowing When To Quit

We all have things we’re good at, As well as things we’re not. The trick is knowing when to quit When giving things a shot. Of course, if there’s enjoyment Though you’re really not adept, It’s worth it to keep on, accepting That you are inept. We can’t excel at everything (That wouldn’t be too fair) But sticking with our weaknesses Is fine, if we don’t care.

There's a lot to be said for doing something for personal pleasure. I use to refer to playing my saxophone as getting my ya ya's out. :) lol

I accepted my ineptitude long ago, Ilene. Einstein's definition of insanity was to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Still, we try. Sometimes it's fun, but it can become aggravating too. Enjoyed your poem (and the one Rico wrote about you)!

Singers continue singing even when they can't hear the tune anymore but that is OK - in the shower! Aloha! Rico

Inept is certainly something you're not Ilene....but while I can't vouch for EVERYone else on the soup, there may indeed be some who "don't care", and at times, perhaps, I may find myself among them. I liked your poem.
