Keep Them On
I walk in the room only to hear his slow deep breaths
So peaceful, so calm
I hope he's dreaming of me
A better version of me
One that isn't a hurricane of emotions
Another me who is the woman he deserves
Who speaks like silk and walks like waves
I have never been that girl
I am a chubby cheeked messy haired girl who never gets written about in poems
But you you are more beautiful than any combination of words could ever hope to be
I have come to terms with the fact I will never be enough for you
I'm just praying to god you don't wake up one day and see what I see
So for now I will play pretend and be the sun in the sky
For as long as I am gleaming you will have no reason to take your rose colored glasses off
