~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I haven’t words for explaining,
Reasons aren’t within my grasp.
I don’t know how to speak of then,
Without reflecting shadow of doubts.
I know that the past can’t hurt me,
And, the memories are all I have,
Memories can’t really harm me,
Though they color my thoughts so black.
I haven’t the words to tell you,
How weary and how hard the road…
When my heart was measured,
By someone else’s cord…
Weights who taught me to see beyond,
The laughter and the smiles,
Into the deep, dark ocean – the eyes
That always decide…
If I’m good enough – If I should hide,
If I have the hope of tomorrow,
If I have that shame, so appalling,
If I can reach out and touch the light…
Will the light free me of the night,
Where someone other than me,
Decides if I can be the me that agrees,
This misuse of love – destroys the heart,
But, the soul – oh, the soul always knows…
Whatever meanness or cruelty it sees,
Even when someone has drowned out all hope,
There is the coming of love, a love that is…
HIS, Jesus, the healer… Him who will rebuild,
Everything that’s been torn down….
By that murderer who believes they’ve won,
Because you’ve visited the darkness of a heart,
Who beats for power and control,
A heart who surely believed they had…
completely destroyed
(not just your heart) but your soul!
