Just Passing Through
Age crept upon me like a quiet thief
Reminding me of time's silent passing
Another Autumn, another dead leaf
The moment's concern seems everlasting
To conjure the year my mind was aware
A child's brain with its singular thought,
When tomorrow a distant dream to share
And childhood was playful minutes sought
As joy and anguish scrolls through my mind
They remind of adult worlds I've lived through
When turmoil of history made us all blind,
And tears we all shed were a darker blue
Dreamed a thousand dreams on time's endless shore
Saw them washed away as history's captor
