Just One Word

My thoughts let go of a thousand memories, like dates, times, places and faces; yet, I can easily recall each and every detail, on the day of your funeral. In the middle of a snow storm I followed, the wind blowing back my long hair; we meandered down a winding cold path, the wind pausing in the trees. Snowflakes fell on me from the tangled branches, falling like weeping tears cascading down; I am lost in this forever, ever memory- today, the snow drifts in the cemetery. and a headstone is buried deep in the pure white, with one engraved word revealed; in this pristine lonely winter wonderland, only one word can be seen- Mother. _________________________________ September 24, 2014 Poetry/Verse/Just One Word Copyright Protected, ID 14-1224-532-0 All Rights Reserved. So poignant with many picturesque phrases - "wind pausing in the trees." Really nice! Congratulations!
