Just August

These gold suffused August afternoons The luxury of this lazy light Sweetened beneath peach blossom moons Wide dawn reclaims the narrow night As the sun lifts on saffron balloons. 08/09/22 Just August contest Sponsor: Andrea Dietrich

What a pretty poem. Your imagery is wonderful. I am an August baby and almost named my daughter August. Your third line is my absolute favorite, it is fun to read outloud. I enjoyed this so much, it is truly lovely.

I really do enjoy and appreciate nature poems but I am not too good good at doing them. As I mentioned in my previous comment, your passion for nature always, produces gems. I love been in the bush, and to the Kruger National Park we go at the end of the month. I will certainly have a write ready to post on our return as i make my daily notes. Hugs and blessings. Kind regards, Jennifer. Blessings and hugs my friend Michelle.

I love the phrase "gold suffused", such a perfectly pithy description of a sunny August day. Also liked the alliteration of line 2 and the imagery of the sun lifting on saffron balloons. Hope you are enduring your summer swelter, Michelle ~ John

It's been relatively mild here with a couple heat waves to date. September is usually our hottest month... we shall see

We've had 4 heat waves over this summer (defined as two or more days in a row of over 90 degrees) and one more coming next week, but it's been mostly pleasant, how's serene San Diego doing?
