Just Another Day

To think that this was over
that the battles fought were gone
Stupid little boy
the war has just begun

So naive to think that this was done
even though you have taken it all before
you would think you would have learned by now
that Hope is on a different shore

Love is not for you little one
for you comes the shield and the sword
no rest for the weary
just an illusion to endlessly follow toward

To think that you were but a hero
about to reap his due reward
when in fact you never left
this trench of no return

How many scars mark your soul
how many tears have yet to dry
after all this you dare to stop
and ask the standard why

Because you silly poetic fool
this is your only way
this is how you live
just another day
