Just Another Day

* For Brian's "Tomorrow is another day" contest

Dawn, but the alarm never rang
Power was on; I’d failed to set it
Cornflakes littered the kitchen floor
The box? I just couldn’t reach it

A passing train delayed traffic
Was trapped for nearly an hour
Only then did I realize
I had forgotten to shower

Was tardy arriving at work
Too late to attend the meeting
No smiles came from my angry boss
And she offered no warm greeting

There was such turmoil in accounts
Ads printed in the wrong color
Then the company president
Started to smolder and holler

Made my way home only to find
A fire truck in my driveway
“Thank God, it’s over,” I whimpered
“Tomorrow is another day”

LOL, I love your sense of humour! I'm glad to see it was a winner. You'd love Susan Hill's Woman in Black - a real spine tingler. I never tire of reading it. The film is cool too - although much was changed. Juliet gave me a copy of Canterbury Tales and the print was just too small, but my mother recently gave me a large print version and I always look forward to reading a few pages at bedtime. Juliet is a huge fan and admits she identifies with the Wife of Bath LOL.

Wow. I'm not so sure I should have read this one so early in the day. It's almost as if this poem epitomizes a bad day, and it just keeps getting worse. I think we all hate days like that. Excellent job, though.

BUMMER! Not the poem, the day. Time for a double shot of Jim Beam, or a double martini might numb the nerves. Enjoyed mucho BIG LOVE, daver
