Just a Memory Away
February came in tiptoeing
behind a frigid January, cold freed of snowing
unchilled bones gathered in windy storms slowing;
nature's creatures fluttered in winged flight
as ground critters sheltered from the icy bite,
winter's huff and puff faded in a welcomed reprieve;
and beneath, the leaves blew away relieved,
soothing warm brought in a brief spring day
as daffodils burst forth and birdsong absorbed the rays
and for a moment brief as spring could only tease,
the sun glowed, bright to warm the day released
and winter is just a memory away.
