jump
standing on the roof, many stories high
here, i feel free, as free as ever.
i smell the fresh rain,
feel the warm wind blow across the air
like a hot summer sky.
i’m looking at people walking, talking, yocking
in the city, so, so many people
heaven must be full, full of those people
floating above everyone, everything,
away from all things human,
from all ephemeral things, things that don’t last.
earth can say goodbye, for now and ever.
towards the city in the sky, glowing and white,
the path’s clear for me - crystal clear.
holy gates shining, i see it:
sanctuary for my sky-born soul
where i will soon be, where i will soon stay.
my thoughts linger in my mind:
soul becomes body, but what of body?
belongs on earth, body does.
so i take a breath, and then another.
i have nothing left to do here, nowhere for me to go.
jump, my mind tells me - so i do.
