Judy Marisa Reflects In the Fall of Her Fortieth Year

Ageless woman lies alone. Builds her own fires amid perfumed air, blending inside warmth with outside chill. Pretty things surround a rarely-shared bed. Hoping for a dream-filled sleep, she stares into flames then the crystal stars. Loneliness drops gently to a cold pillow, as her skin burns hot, while facing long-held beliefs turned inside out by a man-child knowing so much and too little. He called forth a girl with longings strongly denied too many years to count. She wonders tonight if independence is only a fearful heart? Or claims of freedom really self isolation? And when youth and wisdom collide, who is youthful and who is wise?
