Judging and Worth
I read some poems
Judged winners elsewhere
In the real world
And it cast such a shadow upon
My own efforts
But then I remembered
I'm just an attempting poet
In the same way someone
Might win an arm wrestle
Against the strong man
Sometimes
At the fair
I'm not an enthusiast or a scholar
Of this art
I put in the moments
Not the hours
I'm in it for cathartic purposes
And then a little
Of the external validation
(Which I claim to be trying to quit)
