"As water flows down when a faucet is turned on, thoughts and feelings pour out into a journal cleansing the heart" ~ By Poet I keep a journal, a treasure chest of memories. Where I record each day’s activities Where I divulge my innermost secrets As my feelings overflow into each blank page, I get the therapeutic effect of unburdening my heart. Though I scrawl down in messy hand, It is a slice of my heart and I treasure it, More than any other document I have. Every day I empty my heart into its pages, My pen bleeds words in red. I paint me as I am, honest and truthful. I don’t want to be a sham. Here I lay bare my life, Fraught with aches, dotted with smiles. My longings and my heart aches My expectations, my disappointments My triumphs, my defeats My search through every nook n’ cranny for success My plunge into the nadir of despair on defeat My moments of escalating joy My dark hours of crippling distress Everything I want to be, Everything I fail to be. Journaling, poetry, and prayer fill my day. They help me keep all my boredom away!

Where I divulge my innermost secrets - while living, its better that no one reads it...diary is like you said - I paint me as I am, honest and truthful - and that may surprise many..so nicely written...always a good poet...many years ago i also pondered and wrote....can we tell every truth? can we write about those? - but in a diary you secretly can....

Journaling is powerful . Although I did not keep any journals, reading some public family journals shaped my life.

Congratulations, Dear Valsa. Do you write journals every day? I used to, from my childhood…but at some point, due to some emotional turmoil, I stopped. I shouldn’t have. Your poem, as all of yours, so touching!

I must admit I never kept a journal. And since I retired 23 years ago I have even lost the art of writing. I write my poems on the computer which has its defects. I lost two poems lately as I did nor save my work. Pity. Blessings.

Beautiful poem of how much you put into your work in praying for the love within you to be guided through your words to come with a pure conscience unto all : )

a truly magnificent and personable poem, dear Valsa. It was revealing and ended beautifully. I, too, journal, although not every day. Inside the pages my individual honesty and truth reside...it tells of 'everything I want to be, everything I fail to be.' Journaling helps me grow; it calms me and gives me insight. Journaling is my heart song. Am faving this one...just curious is the picture of you? I love it. Nice to have a face to go with your name. Have a lovely Saturday, Sara

Dear Valsa, what a delightful read made more so by actually being able to see you pen your wonderful, touching, creative thoughts. Love the poem and love your quote too. The lines,’ It is a slice of my heart and I treasure it’ ‘ My pen bleeds words in red’ ‘ My dark hours of crippling distress’ are so poignant. So many can relate to this. Thank you for sharing such an important part of you. A privilege. Good luck in the contest. Hugs and blessings to you. Xx

"Every day I empty my heart into its pages, My pen bleeds words in red. I paint me as I am, honest and truthful." -- "Everything I want to be, Everything I fail to be." This a perfect example of a poet's diary in a nutshell. Honest, overflowing with living words. Well done. Love the entire poem. Blessings.

Enjoyed your journaling notes. A long time ago, after reading my too negative high school diary, I decided my writings would be kind. If I do decide I need to “get it out,” I destroy those. My grandma apparently had unkind things written in her diary so my Aunt decided to not share it. Likely my grandma did not intend to hurt anyone. I want to be careful what I pass down. Hugs-a-million.

Dear Valsa. Your writing is quite expressive. It embodies the experience of revealing one's soul on the sheets of a journal, divulging reality that not even the air can fathom. Your words strike a chord with me since your poetry is a genuine and frank depiction of your feelings. Your ability to convey your thoughts with such enthusiasm and devotion via well-selected words is extraordinarily enticing. Best wishes for the contest

Dear talented soul, its so good to see a picture of you too! And also how sincere and honest is this poem, i am the same as you, even if i write for a prompt i somehow manage to insert the prompt and make it flow with my emotions, as i bleed thoughts and emotions, and is a form if catharsis not just for me i guess many would resonate with your journal entry here, as poetry is your journal flowing with poetic confessions. I love how you’ve written “ treasure chest of memories” an exquisite write

This is a deeply evocative write, dear poetess.. In many ways, you've described how one pours his/her vulnerability onto the blank pages of journals, sharing the secrets that even the air wouldn't know.. Poetry is definitely cathartic for us, it brings a whirlwind of myriad emotions, sometimes they can be intensely aching as well.. You're a beautiful-hearted soul as it reflects in this poem, "My plunge into the nadir of despair on defeat", "It is a slice of my heart and I treasure it" Wonderful!
