Jewels Ablaze
Leaves free falling and toying with the wind
Rain turning streets to glossy mirrors
Lined with colourful foliage bouquets
Million shades of reds, oranges and golds
Tiny momentary opening in a steel grey sky
Sun piercing blatantly and triumphantly
Through frigid domineering clouds
Setting aglow if only for an instant
This wet wild wonderful vibrant palette
Expecting a rainbow that just won’t come
Steady persistent rain throughout till night
Finally gives way to dark overcast morning skies
Still heavy with dark gloomy menacing clouds
For just another blessed moment
The sun shines defiantly releasing
A supernatural blanket of jewels ablaze
Abruptly snatching our breath away
For that one little fleeting moment
Wishing the magic would last forever
