Written to acknowledge National Peanut Butter Day, January 23rd
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am but a mere jar of peanut butter sitting on a shelf because mostly that's where I tend to leave myself If you come and get me then clearly you will see labels are printed all over me if me you do not fancy then fine throw me out but if you think you'll like me then it’s on our way to checkout on our way to checkout then to the car to your little home near or far hard plastic outside cool to the touch at first I really truly do not look like much but when you dig down deep and pull me up I'm soft and sweet and worthy of being in a Reese’s peanut butter cup I am but a mere jar of peanut butter
A cute, sweet poem. And it is nutritious from what I've heard. Peanut butter, invented by a black American, is always in my kitchen. Thanks for this smooth (or crunchy) poem
thanks for visiting and for sharing. I think p'nut butter (not in excess) is nutritious. Wasn't aware that a Black American invented peanut butter. Yes, always a jar or two in our pantry...thanks for your humorous ending comment, hugs, Sara
A delightful praise to a jar of peanut butter. Don't forget the best friend, grape jelly. A creative personification, my friend.
Oh so delicious, Sara! Fun view of life from the peanut butter jar's perspective! I do love peanut butter. It is part of my morning ritual and often a snack with apples! And I agree about the peanut butter cup! Yummy! This poem is just plain fun! If for a contest, best wishes. Blessings! Off for some peanut butter toast!
Next time I'll bring the peanut butter if you bring the apples! A perfect snack - sweet, salty and full of fiber and protein! Does that take the fun out of this deliciousness? Hope not! Blessings!
ah, we share something in common...apples and peanut butter. I, too, have p'nut butter on toast for breakfast. Yum....heading to the kitchen to get an apple and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Have a pleasant evening, Sara PS thanks for stopping by
Lovely ode to peanut butter.. This whimsical and lighthearted personification brings an unexpected charm to the ordinary life of a jar of peanut butter. The clever use of personification, portraying the jar as having agency and self-awareness, adds a delightful touch to the poem... nicely done..
Can't say I ever tasted peanut butter. I would compare you to a tasteful dish of spicy rice covered with lots of seafood which is my favourite. You will always be my first choice. What a wonderful poet you are. Hugs.
What a deeply moving personification. Ive not always read personifications on peanut butter jar, but you’ve done it in such a creative and soulful manner. I loved the opening lines in this and also how you’ve written “ If you come and get me then clearly you will see labels are printed all over me” how creative and how deep is that! I love peanut butter especially the crunchy ones! Pleasure reading your work always and your words just flow seamlessly! Sending you light always
ahhh....I see we share something else--a love for crunchy peanut butter, the crunchier the better! I enjoy eating it on toast or a tablespoon with an apple...my go to dinner favorite. Thanks for your visit and for your thoughtful comments--who knew a jar of peanut butter could be so inspirational :-) smiles & hugs for the day, Sara
