Izzy-- Repost

Izzy A big man with a long, long name, His sweet tender voice brought him great fame. He lived with a curse and died in his prime, But he’ll be remembered as one of the best of his time. Hawaii his home, he lay there in state, His country so proud , so sad for his fate. His “Over the Rainbow” will bring you to tears, Oh Izzy, I wish we could roll back the years. Written in tribute to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, Hawaiian musicianwho died in 1997 at the age of 38 from complications of obesity. For the "Gone to Soon" contest

What a shame Izzy had to die so young. Having a voice like that is a rare talent. I think I remember hearing him, LNC, but I didn't know he had passed away. You picked an interesting person for the contest and I love each of your rhyming couplets. Best wishes in the contest! Love you, Carolyn

Izzy sounds loveable. I had an Izzy too - Izzy Wolf - when I was 4 years old. The man was like a big brother, took me everywhere with him. I remember carp and pumpernickel at the Wolf's home. Love, Dave
