It's a fallacy that writers have to shut themselves up in their ivory towers to write. I have all these interruptions, three of which I gave birth to. If I was thrown for a loop every time I was distracted I could never get anything done.- Jodi Picoult Sparkling skin, once grimy with dirt Fresh from the shower where streaming sprays Washed away the filth, the muck and the mire, Scandalous smut, darkening the hours… Hypnotizing keys in middle C and notes Beckoning hearts to feel, stirring emotions, Songs that thrill, songs that linger in the heart, Promising still, clear truths… Erasing the shadows of the past, Surrounding the soul with love that will last Praying on the melody, the striking of a light Far more gentle than can be explained away, This light never fades, spent By the silhouettes Leaves trembling, dancing Beckoning for the honor of a wind’s caress, the beautiful Inside a duet, a duo of light and love, Felt by hearts who understand the meaning of real affection, Honest acceptance, music that is better than the lesson, Beautiful and expressive … Pearls, new and bright, startling the dreams, betraying Night with its heavy moon suspended in the sky, Enormous, hanging where the light… Touches the spirit who listens to the stars glistening, Shyly igniting the soul’s smile, Gliding through the night, shedding hope and faith Wherever their iridescent glow falls, casting opaline light Over the figures abiding in the burning sphere… Profiles, trees uneasy salsa, twisting limbs, branches Nimble, a graceful parody – winding through the hills, Silent as the reflection of the past capturing Heaven’s gaze in its light, luminating the mystery Gleaming, glowing, gathering hope for those who see… There in the pearl like trembling, brilliant Soothing, poetry to the living… Bones, risking everything to cry out from the past, Danger, jeopardizing the colors of grief, Silencing the reflections of grace, the beautiful feelings, The aching way that yesterday embraces the here and now, Assuming we care about what has been, the dead bones, Lying still in the light, softly shuddering… Like a tremulous skeleton, jaws from the past, Echoing autumn’s lingering praises, the hunger of a heart, Mesmerized by the thought – ivory dreams fading… Into the forever, the forever where I’ll forever be… Abiding in life’s mystery, abiding in the grace Freedom from the suspicions… Elephant tusks, who have been captured by the very need, Demanding, people’s greed… wherever I will be… There will be the promise of humble belief, Believing in the grace that awakens… Softly scented peace, my most tender belief – forever Words to soften the blow when darkness falls hard, quaking… With the breath of ivory dreams flowing into the moments, Hesitating only to agree – the soul knows light that is its strength, Light of love, light of life, light that comes from the One who is… Shimmering throughout the heavens, blessing eternity with His radiance. Ivory scented stars glisten to show us all – the love that we can know If we only follow the light… it’s love’s song, appealing to the soul.

a soulful and intricate poem that certainly fits the topic of the contest. The last two lines were memorable and impactful...if only we follow the light...love's song. Exquisite poem, Gina! Have a great evening, Sara
