I'Ve Never Been An Umbrella Kinda Guy
I’ve never been an umbrella kinda guy
just sorta hunched against the wind’s distain
smiled a five year olds fresh puddle smile
laughing in the face of chilling rain
Cooled worms would play wet “wackamole” with me
dodge my dripping fingers in their flight
oozing in mud’s coat of squeamish slime
reaching for the touch of bluish night.
Day breaks – upon the feast of early birds
menu posted on a sun streaked dawn
a cacophony of breakfast without words
witnessed by the trembling rain soaked fawn.
I’ve never been an umbrella kinda guy
and to this day I never wonder why.
