Sam doesn’t love you, he adores his wife You’re besotted, sadly he doesn't care Forget he exists; get on with your life You bombard him with calls, your texts are rife Holding his photograph you sit and stare Sam doesn’t love you, he adores his wife You had a fling at a meeting in Fife He was so handsome with steely gray hair Forget he exists; get on with your life He ignores your calls; it stabs like a knife I guess he used you, life just is not fair Sam doesn’t love you, he adores his wife You cuddle your Ted, he is made by Steiff Unlike Sam, old Ted will always be there Forget he exists; get on with your life Your obsession with Sam created strife Accept he’s married, his wife will not share Sam doesn’t love you, he adores his wife Forget he exists; get on with your life n/a in Contest Villanelle Poetry Contest Sponsor Nina Parmenter Date 1/14/19 *doesn't counted as 2 syllables

How many young women have been wooed by married men only to have their hearts broken? They usually lie and say they are not married, but some women can be blamed for initiating an affair. However; most women try to stay away from a married man. This is so sad because the pain is real. This is a super Villanelle Jan and I will bet it is a top winner! : ) xxoo

Dramatic and hard-hitting. Reminded me of the verbal lashing a woman might give herself in mirror image. This poem is a grabber that I enjoyed being grabbed by; a good time and excellently penned. Good luck in all things, Jan, including the contest. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

The bear on my bed has outlasted a couple relationships, so I see some truth in your villanelle, Jan. And it's often a fruitless quest to pursue a partner who is married. You write very well in this form, Hon, and I wish you well in the contest! Hugs, Carolyn

Hi Jan, a wonderful Villanelle from your pen. I love the content of your story. It can be hard to stay on track in this form, at least it is for me.
