It's Monday It's Raining
" And God called the light day
and called the darkness night
and there was evening and there was morning
one day" (Genesis)
That one day was Monday
for on the seventh day God rested
and we called it Sunday
so it was, so it is
Mondays come and go...as do we,
we are born on our first day
come to rest on our last
rains fall from Heaven's clouds
so to do they fall from eyes
each is a birth, each is a death
to find a gray Monday
gives no time to escape
it is the beginning of time as we measure it
and if the sun shines on Monday
the eyes will smile
our burdens will feel lighter
the night wears a more peaceful sleep
for in the ancient mist of our soul
we know morning was born on the first day
and Monday is the first day
rainy Mondays may seem gloomy
but our spirits will never cry
for without Monday, there is no life
no clouds to fill with rain
no eyes to overflow
no gray days to remember
