It Worked Out Alright In the Middle

It's a day. There's a flip in it. First bit is a blah, blah, blah - lots of stuff we'll deal with later. You know, how it might all end as relayed by a doctor, but that's deferred until Monday and another doctor. Second bit, I got my act together. It didn't look likely when I showed up with my alternative reality version of a day in the life - I'm being cryptic. I'll ignore me and move on. Then I said "do you want to go and see a band?" No questions were asked, she just said "yes" and got her little self ready. The band thing was a bit random, I'd had a seat fillers deal through and booked - I'd liked the blurb and hadn't thought it through. It was Americana - they are called Dustbowl Revival and are a 7 piece funk/blues band (I still don't really know) Music was great, the audience very much toe tappers and head nodders with a jazz vibe that made me uneasy, why did the people behind me arrive with Nordic walking sticks... But then they did an acoustic song with audience participation - we sang "you are not alone" melodically It was the most beautiful thing I could have been involved in on a day that mentioned alzheimer's She's just so happy to spend time with me and I am determined to flip my mindset now I've seen my smiles on Facebook memories I can do this Ditch this version of me that's hung around since December Shed some skin Do something that moves me forward I'll try Then the tram came as we arrived at the station Then I realised I was playing a tune with my tram ticket that my Grandad used to play Maybe I did good today, mostly... After my blah, blah, blah start (Forgot to say, I treated her to burittos and bubble tea - yeah they are my favourites but she was delighted with them) I'm proud I managed the day We walked round Selfridge's and laughed at the price of handbags too (£4600), the shop assistant asked if we needed help and I explained I'd just come in for a laugh

Get on it Vickey, I'm almost wearing that delicious combo out at the minute - if you can tie it in with the audience singing with an acoustic set (row b good!) then experience an affirmation by playing a half forgotten drum beat and feeling you've been visited by kind spirit who also ensured all your public transport arrived as you walked to the platform then you've got my dreamlike state sorted x

An amazing and enthralling journey through your day....simply spellbinding, the twists and turns, your mind creating reality. A great piece of writing DD...the ease and spontaneity ropes you into the narrative.

Thank you Paul, I did intend to write a poem but just snapshot narrative with the bad stuff edited to the edges came out, so went with it. I genuinely appreciate your kind words x
