Is he dead yet?
The voice seems excited.
Who it this? I ask.
Loud laughter I do not recognize.
Seriously, I say. I think you have the wrong number.
You’re kidding right?
Her voice is playful; she is full of mirth.
I am silent.
Click.
Three minutes later my phone rings.
Is he dead yet?
Same happy voice.
