Intoxicating Poison

Lost in garnet glow, within crimson shadows, eyes in you see continence, bold, unerring; where, in truth, ingenuous virtue harbors. I see you sleeping. Yet, unbidden innocent thoughts turn rancid, craving hunger, withering dreams of honor. Cold in lust are fantasies born from sorrow, driveling sorrow. Ice envelops spurious hearts when love wilts. Passion's roses, petalless, lie infertile, endless waiting, hopelessly, always waiting love to now answer. Dream in gentle slumber of sweetened ardor; for, in you is virtuous faithful rapture. Sentimental visions of love remains, as virginal hearts throb. 06/28/2020 Intoxicating Poison Host: Edward Ibeh Pick-A-Title, Vol 19 - 4 Sapphic Stanzas - Poetry Contest

Passion is "intoxicating" but "waiting" is hard...perhaps the hardest of all things to do. Intriguing poem< James.

Thank you Joseph, a tale of virtue and the challenge that our dreams and fantasies create in retaining that virtue.

James a masterful Sapphic Stanza one which I find difficult to pen. You have done it to perfection my friend. Always cleverly written and I am always amazed at your vocabulary level. Your words truly and metaphorically convey an "Intoxicating Poison" Be blessed my friend...

Mine is far from perfect. It is a much more difficult form than I thought. I did my best to follow the form but both the meaning and the flow suffered terribly. Thanks for the visit WW.

Hi James. Your last verse soothed by worry over the ending of this write. What an ardent dream that would be.

What a thoughtful comment Jenna. Thank you for visiting. I have written many poems using numerous forms but this is my first Sapphic Stanza. If following the definition of this form correctly, which the few I have read do not, it is a difficult form to write in.
