Intoxicating Autumn Air

Sitting by the beach
At the patio
Summer days behind us
Chatting with my sweetheart

Manoeuvring our glass of wine
Savoring the cooler vista
Reminiscing past adventures
Mapping out new excursions

Just appreciating each other
And loving the way we feel
Free and in love, relaxed like
the old married couple that we are

Comfortable in our silences
Content by a touch or a smile
Finishing each other’s sentences

Enjoying each minute
And the sense of humor
I fell in love with years ago
Toasting to our health
And the many years to come

Intoxicated with joy
The wine and the autumn sun
Enjoying the life we’ve created
And the people we’ve become
In love and still our own selves

To retain the enchantment of love throughout life is such a blessing. When they know you as well as you know yourself, there becomes a sacred contentment that couples who have been together a long time know so well. You have related this most beautifully in your lovely poem Line! I can relate and I love your entry! Congratulations on your well deserved win! : )

This is just wonderful, Line - I love how you view things, in a rather unexpected but charming way - it's fresh and yet classically romantic, and I enjoyed every moment! Sounds like someone has shared a joyous and romantic life with the right person! Blessings and congrats on this well-deserved win, my friend! :-)

Thank you so much Gregory. Lovely to hear your comments. I got married at age 50... I always say it's honeymoon till the end. Hugs from Ottawa.
