In the Shadows
As softly as twilight envelopes the sky
And sun bids adieu with its golden eye,
My dreams like shadows in dark silhouette stealth
Surround me in my thoughts of love's gilded wealth.
The shadows rebuke our lost years spent apart
In pained silent whispers that pierce my sad heart.
Now as this darkness is overcome by light,
Pensive thoughts like the shadows soon will take flight.
In life as in nature darkness fades away,
Just as softly as shadows blend into day.
