In the Mall
IN THE MALL
On the long white strip
Carnival strains
A circus tune from a Music Box store
I sit and watch
As the passing crowd – mostly by twos – appear
to catch rhythm
A most amusing spectacle
The shapes
The sizes
Singular unique strides
Even a featured Playboy Bunny would show
some sort of glitch
But aside no one is without fault
Marching along (to my mind) android
rejects
I’d never thought much about it, but no one talks
No one smiles
In this disjointed parade
For heaven’s sake
Bring on some children, even bad-ass kids
Let’s have a dollop of excitement!
Now I must put index to lips
Eyes upward in thought
Trying to find excuse for my freak
No use
I too am one of them
And probably food for gut-shaking mirth
My God!
What nonsense am I thinking?
What a world!
