Life's extraordinary journey to conquer, adapt & survive on Earth across billions of years thru climate change & extinction. Devine intervention? Where does it come in? Evolution is amazing, (perhaps divine intervention) every animal evolves & plant (leaves on trees evolved to protect their selves with poison) how cool is that! The great battles of survival. A gift is given to the Starfish & the Octopus, growth of new limbs, why them? Gone & hysterical indeed! Thought provoking, David. Have you heard of the Blue Dragon? They bite like jelly fish, come out during Spring Break.

Heya Anaya, perhaps divine intervention is a serendipitous side effect of human evolution, (walking miracles) do seem to happen sometimes, but are pretty rare; The blue dragon is not common to our waters, I’ve just looked it up (amazing creature) one that can certainly pack a punch, and hopefully helps keep the jellyfish under control, thanks so much for your comment, and for bringing the blue dragon to my attention, cheers David

The greatest fun can be had putting emphasis on a different word on each reading, it really races through emotions that way and goes from gentle to condescending to inspiring to sadness... Half eaten prawns still have hope, don't they? (!) as long as the word 'half' is an exaggeration or perhaps refers to the loss of hope. Plunge that hysterical creature into loving arms and they'll be fine (quick starfish! Regenerate! It's you're cue haha). Great work to get me thinking David :)

Heya Dilly, Definitely one can give hope to a half eaten prawn, just like soldiers always try give hope to their gravely injured comrades even though they know he/she will never survive, helps calm the hysteria, and of course some will survive against all odds, and become walking miracles, It’s not over til it’s over, and even then it’s never really over, so says me and my starfish lol! cheers David

Starfish can regenerate their limbs, but a half-eaten prawn cannot survive. The beast devoured the prawn and will live to fill its belly with the other half another day, unless a sea urchin is hungry. Predator becomes the prey.

I’d never trust a sea urchin again, I stood on one before and was still pulling out its spines a month later! Lol! wasn’t funny at time!

Ha David. Let’s give the next prawn a sea urchin body guard… of do they eat shrimp too?

Very clever Lin indeed a starfish can regenerate its whole body from just one limb, hence my (walking miracle) line, the prawn is probably doomed, but needed a little pep talk from the starfish lol! Cheers David

Very interesting indeed David.. but, would a limbless starfish still be a starfish? now that is the real question....

lol! I thought about that very question S1, and was trying to fit in (spherical) to describe the limbless starfish, but it just wasn’t working out the way I wanted it to, cheers David

Dear David, Your poem creatively portrays resilience and unlikely companionship amidst adversity. Through striking imagery, you artistically convey the power of survival and the unexpected bonds that form in the face of danger. The dialogue between the limbless starfish and the half-eaten prawn is poignant and thought-provoking, highlighting the strength in the most unlikely places. I found this a captivating piece that invites reflection on the complexities of existence. - Blessings, Daniel

Heya Daniel, definitely had a battlefield scene in mind when writing this one, people when in dire situations have been known to find resilience through humour, cheers David
