In Praise of Washing Dishes

With hands immersed in suds and water warm,
I stand before the sink, humbled vassal,
To plates and dishes, grease and grime the norm,
My task to cleanse this polychromed passel.

Each cup I cradle with a gentle pinch,
Their curves and corners, every angle blessed,
Rinse them speckless, my soapy palm a winch,
A chore completed, my service at rest.

For though this labor at face is mundane,
It's in the simple things we find our grace,
And so I wash each dish with grateful strain,
And let their gleaming surfaces erase

The chaos and the clutter of the day,
A small but satisfying task, I say.

Wow! What an unusual take on the ever so mundane task of washing dishes! Loved it, especially since I do the dishes myself! Beautiful, brilliant, breathtaking. God bless you

Congratulations on your POTD Jamyee! You have taken a simple daily task and turned it into a POTD elevating this simple task into the realm of metaphoric wonder. Wonderful work. I remember washing dishes with family as a child. It is one of my most enduring and endearing memories of family! Blessings.

Congratulations on your POTD Jaimee Thomas! You are most inspiring and your “Four Cafés” Avant-garde, I agree with Mystic Rose, on “Sacred Cats” your imagination has taken poetry to a new level. I Am Anaya

Dear Jaymee, I smiled as I read your sonett. It is so well constructed and the transition to the concluding verses was very clever. My GE diswasher may not be as impressed. - Best - Ken

Really enjoyed your POTD, Jaymee. It seems to me that ours is certainly not to deprecate, but rather to elevate (!) To find the holiness in even the 'most mundane' of tasks. Congrats to you!
