Death hints at a darkness
Shadowed beneath
Black sorrow, grief that pierces
The barriers of faith
Death whispers of dread
Faded pain and fear
Feelings so heartbreaking
They’re colored in hues
Of deep gray and ancient
Shades of dismay
Death weeps tears of desolation
Dejected and forlorn
Desperate to find purpose
Beneath the doom and fruitless
Feeling of anguish
Death erases the light
That twinkles so alive
In the eyes of those who know
Time only holds precious moments
Before it is time to let go
And allow death full control
Death likes to think it has won
But I know One who has overcome
The darkness of this feared fate
The destiny we all face
Death, in all its dark, lonely dread
Loses its sting when I remember
He has been resurrected
Jesus saves us from Death’s devastation
I’m so thankful there is this peace
That surpasses my understanding
Philippians 4:7
King James Version
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
