These are images I found on Google that show some of my childhood memories. Can't believe that little old house that ten of us lived crammed into is foreclosed on right now!

My family lived across from the cemetery, which was four blocks long and also two to three blocks deep. Weed Park had a zoo in those days, duck pond to skate on in winter, and the pool I loved so much in the summer. The city was most famous for the Bridge, which was exploded the year I graduated high school and a new one was put up!

A grey frame house and backyard swing call out to me from somewhere buried deep in time - a memory. A river front and 60’s band are beckoning - symbols of beginnings of my reckonings. Ostensibly, I cannot travel back in time, or I would be there dancing, not making rhyme. Oh, can it be the parks and wooded spots I knew now withering - will cease to be when I am through? Except in dreams! Were folks and my old haunts the same revisited, then on no stone would live my name.

Making me cry, seeing the grey house we lived in for so many years, being foreclosed on. Well at least it's not condemned like it was after Mom moved.

yes, jenny I hope it never gets torn down or something. Remember the first time we saw it, it was not this pretty blue grey, but just that typical dark grey kind of color?

In the Jewish prayer book life is called "The dream that flies away". I like the bittersweet quality of this poem. I have just posted a poem with remembrances of my youth. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

We flee the past not knowing that we can't outrun the future. If this doesn't do well in the contest I will alert the "gendarmerie poetique".
