In My Dreams

IN MY DREAMS In my dreams I have seen it: The shine of the varnished hull Sparkling in the reflected brine-light, Shedding each drop as it peppers the boat. It’s good to see the stem of the prow Slice easily into the steel blue surface As a blade separates warmed butter. The cradle movement of my craft Lulls my eyes away from the horizon, Ever-watched, closely scanned, And we are one, the boat and me. My spinnaker bellies forward As we run with the wind, leaving the Swirling soapy surface behind to mark For a moment where we have been. In my dreams we have been there.

Awesome, Syd. The navigator DOES feel "one with the boat." Incredible description of the craft and I especially like the way you describe the propellor as "a blade separates warmed butter." There is no greater feeling of freedom to be found than when taking a boat offshore. Goes to my favorites for sure! Love, Carolyn
