Imagine a Freedom Beyond Imagination

Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like 102 passengers embarking on the Mayflower As the ship’s sails billowed, the horizon disappeared, Nothing ahead but wide-open, expanding sea and sky And the promise of a new life in a new world. Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like Harriet Tubman...one, ten, til’ a thousand steps Onward to a freedom land she never saw before Knowing it was the promised land for her family. Never looking back, never losing sight. Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like a Black woman named Rosa Parks who said, “No!” Sitting silently in the front seat she chose to sit in Unmoving...knowing she might die on that bus, Knowing it was a necessary step to freedom. Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like two young astronauts opening the capsule door, Stepping out onto the surface of the moon Daring to take that “one small step” into history, “One giant leap for mankind.” Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like a young, adventurous pilot named Chuck Yeager Daring to go faster than any pilot had ever before Breaking the sound barrier, all alone up there, “Touching the face of God.” Imagine a freedom beyond imagination! Like courageous souls throughout the history of our nation Who, having stepped forward in gigantic leaps of faith, Knowing what they believed could actually be true. Imagine...imagine a freedom beyond imagination! SECOND PLACE WINNER Written February 18, 2021 For "Imagine a Freedom Beyond Imagination" Contest Sponsored by Mystic Rose Rose

I can't imagine true freedom WITHOUT imagination! It's the magic door into the house all possibilities. It's what liberates us from our dreary imprisonment in the flesh – pardon my over-waxing, but I think you get my drift. I'm enjoying your poetry more and more. Thanks for posting it. / Maurice
