I'm Almost Glad

I passed you on my path by chance,
by the bench where we once sat
with hands and hearts entwined.

You looked on through me
as if I were the fading apparition
you left when you said goodbye.

Your eyes saw past the flame of hurt,
that dying love ember left behind
as though you felt things that I did not.

Your head and hand turned to another
who laughed as you brushed her cheek
and pinked at your tender touch.

I’m almost glad I saw you there
for it fueled my footsteps forward.
I passed you with a terse nod
that said
… I’m almost glad you left.

Has a bittersweet ending. It's beautiful and with emotion.

Can't say I've actually had such an event happen to me, but I know a few who've told the tale of the ragbag. LOL. Thanks for stopping by my friend! LO :)
