Wet leaves of summer
footprints we left on the soft ground
for us, tomorrow was filled with sorrow
from the parting of love, we found
Those days of Summer seemed endless
when the youthful fire of desire burned
We cast off the shawl of innocence
and was devoured by the longings we yearned
You were the first eyes I fell into
mine laid before you to be found
The starry nights became a blanket we'd lay under
when we crossed over the invisible realm
Goodbye was a word we never spoke
we knew we'd go our separate way
with a promise we'd meet again
in another time, in another day
That night was the last kiss before sorrow
we let our lips melt in the flesh of hunger
until the rays of the sun rose and the sky turned blue
until the shadows of dawn were covered in dew
until the marriage of memories invited wonder
We allowed the passing moments to reflect what was
before our morning's parting of sadness heartfelt
we again touched the unknown
wrapped in the intimacy we felt
We struggled together in the depth of our soul
yet, welcomed the last sweet taste of splendor
we created a lasting memory
as time became our enemy
Our hearts gave their last pleading
tomorrow had to find its own meaning
