If She Could Die So Could I
too numb to cry
too injured to eat
too suspicious to hug
how much sorrow can a person take
my inside tears shut us down
my throat swallowed concrete tears
too much
too soon
too startled, too horrified, too terrified
if she could die,
so could I
so could any of us
It was a scary moment
