If Only I Did More

The times I feel compassion, my strength I can compel, to surge the lives of another forward. Revives my heart as well The times when my strength lies on the floor in tatters. Leaves me bereft and empty, that I failed when it really mattered. I cannot combine the two and have compassion for myself. Despite the knowledge that self care would likely redress my health. And so I sit here weary, bedraggled and in a sorry state. Fearing that I'll rescue you, irreversibly too late. I am incomplete So able yet unwilling Lest I regret all It Means A Lot To Me Poetry Contest 6th February 2023 Sponsored by: Regina McIntosh
