If But One

A single kiss
      Can change your life forever
           Or leave you barren
               With a hundred unanswered questions.
                  Your first kiss
                    Was a shameless swindler
A brash and brazen thief of the night
Stealing my breath, heart, expectations ...
                    My proud and precious walls
                  Utterly obliterated
In the instant of an instant
           By the simple, tender application
      Of your candied lips
To mine.

This is so sweet Greg. I think most will relate to this and remember their first kiss. I do remember mine while in a dark theatre. Congratulations on your deserving win! This was delightful! : )

Thank you so much, Connie, and for sharing ... it is such a priceless memory, isn't it? And kissing is my favorite thing in the world - I could do it for hours! It seems millennials don't value it the way we did, but maybe that's my misconception, not the reality. Blessings, Friend! :-) <3

Congrats Greg, on both Brain's contrast and for re-creating so beautifully a moment special to most of us-- I still remember my 1st kiss on the beach at Ocean City, NJ, and my promise to remember her name always (which I still do 50 plus years later, Mary Ellen!)

Thank you so very much, LJ - and for sharing! I remember my VERY first kiss, (I was 1st grade, she was kindergarten, and she planted one on me at recess one day, hence I never went through the "I hate girls" stage that my buddies did, I had to fake it, lol), and I remember the first kiss of my meaningful relationships. So special!

It is indeed, Brandy, and it is my FAVORITE thing as well - I could kiss all day, if it were up to me ... what a way to pass the hours! Blessings and thanks, Dear Poet! :-) <3

Thank you so very much, John, I greatly appreciate the kindness! I am amazed at how many things in our lives are so similar - I'm beginning to think we may be long-lost brothers, (though that may be frightening to you, lol)! Blessings, My Friend! ;-)
