If But One
A single kiss
Can change your life forever
Or leave you barren
With a hundred unanswered questions.
Your first kiss
Was a shameless swindler
A brash and brazen thief of the night
Stealing my breath, heart, expectations ...
My proud and precious walls
Utterly obliterated
In the instant of an instant
By the simple, tender application
Of your candied lips
To mine.
