Prompt #1  (if anything)

If anything I see them each morning standing by her statue at the roundabout, Pensive, deep in prayer, reflective, perhaps seeking solace I don’t know! Maybe searching for forgiveness trying to make a connection with their loved ones, using her image as mediation, I honestly don’t know! Could be channelling messages of love, praise, loss, or something completely different, I really don’t know! I drove past again today not a sinner was there no one deep in prayer, Thin Lizzy’s #Waiting for an alibi# came on my car radio, For a split second (if anything) it all made sense, and I did know! I took note of the time and date, and went on my way!

I was delighted to get a placement with this one Linda, it really is difficult to assess what thoughts go through people’s minds when standing or kneeling by roadside statues, cheers David

Love that when music serves as an epiphany, in my car. Religious statues a crutch for those in dire spiritual need to reflect on for some, give thanks and be grateful all the time instead of praying only when in dire straits ha! Here it's Confederate statues of Generals who fought for Southern states to own slaves, still there to reflect or and protect. You spin an intriguing yarn!

No yarn Anaya, the song actually came on the radio as I passed the statue, the moment just seemed so fitting, more so because nobody was there praying or reflecting, or indeed waiting for an alibi, there was a huge movement in Ireland about 40 yrs ago, when people claimed all the statues were moving, huge crowds gathered and held vigils, people stared at them that long, they actually believed they were moving, cheers David

Your poem, my friend David, exudes profound contemplations that beckon readers to delve into the enigmas of human existence and the intricacies of human sentiments and drives. It underscores the significance of embracing ambiguity, and fostering receptiveness to epiphanic instances, even amidst uncertainty and skepticism.

It’s a strange phenomenon Lasaad, which certainly sets us apart from the animals, another human condition for sure, which sometimes makes me ponder if we are more prone to epiphanies at the lowest times in our lives, cheers David

There are many statutes in Malta. I often notice people who stop to pray. I pray in church.

Malta is a very religious country Victor, Ireland was too, but has become more secular in recent times, still some people do stand and reflect at our multitude of statues, which is no harm whatsoever, cheers David

Deep thoughts in a poem that invites readers to contemplate the mysteries of human existence and the complexities of human emotions and motivations. It emphasizes the importance of embracing uncertainty and remaining open to moments of insight and revelation, even in the midst of ambiguity and doubt.

A fair comment S1, sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish coincidence from revelation, that can be interpreted as a form of intervention, I’m agnostic myself, so never ever rule out the possibility of a higher power, be that a god or a sentient universe, cheers David

Keeping a log of your epiphanies? Not a bad idea. I don't suppose you're going to reveal the grand revelation? Maybe I'll have to listen to the song

So even as an elder, one’s still a student, I like that!

Ha! One should always keep track of their epiphanies, just in case needed for future reference, I’m sure you’d recognise the song it’s been around a long time now, this poem is my revelation to mankind, you best search in the good book for yours!

I got way too involved in this one - googling Dublin roundabout statues (too many), thinking through the lyrics. Certainly plenty to think about with regards to those that repent and those who innately believe they've done no wrong. I suppose the leads straight back to agnosticism

Heya Dilly, roundabouts with religious statues in Dublin are pretty much omnipresent, some are actually quite dangerous for pedestrians to cross over to, this is a true story, which left me pondering (for a split second) if it was just coincidence or some kind of warning, I wasn’t even looking for an alibi, but have one now on my dash cam, yes agnostic as always, cheers David
