I Will Never Forget
mother
your arms that held me pressed
and your kisses on my cheek
your voice singing me a lullaby so I could sleep
your tears of love when I was sick or sad
and how you kissed my hurts away
when I fell at play
or when my heart was broken
always my safe harbor
you forgave me every stupid thing
(and there was a lot)
you accepted me with unconditional love
always stood by me with pride
your door was always open
your home always mine you said
you were the best mother a girl could have
so when you became sick, oh so sick
when you were dying, mother
it was I who pressed you to my heart
and kissed your cheek
with unconditional love, love and pride
my hands tried to soothe your pain away
but I could not
so I stayed by your side for days
and shed tears until your last breath_
