I Watch Her Swim

I watch her swim And hope that her skill Builds her from the inside out Each move she perfects I hope gives her confidence Within The rhythm of breath I hope means she'll possess Self belief As she dives and follows Complex instruction In a place that is disarray And chaos to me She moves freely I give her my strength So that she may be stronger I tell of my weakness So she may know it's possible To still move forward Here I am The mother of a daughter Who's a competitor I have the weight of the world Upon me But I pray she glides Unburdened
