I Washed My Face-

I washed my face Yet I'm still black I've sinned Yet I'm saved by grace The masters said I was an animal I was his minion just his tool To work like cattle Mine ancestry of the slave If one of them misbehave try to run away They may have cut-off a foot, a leg Now that this injustice behind us Yet I still I wash my face I'm not ashamed nor afraid I live my days no longer a spiritual slave You see now those chains broken i am freed I am not disgraced...cause I have washed my face 12/4/21 Written by James Edward Lee Sr © 2021
