I Was Tired of Thinking
My mind ran amok, and I did not care to catch up.
I watched her go, with relief.
I was ready for a nap, a repose, a rest.
My eyes closed, eager to begin but mind would not have it.
She came back and pulled on my eyelids; she wanted attention.
Just a little peace, I said.
I was tired of thinking.
Ideas and ideals were wanting a break.
She would not let me rest, so I went outside
Because even mind is inspired to sigh and relax in the sun.
The cat joined me, and we began our slumber.
Curled up on the couch next to a dog
Dog tried to bother us, but couldn’t, so curled up too.
In our sleep, we three were mindless.
Nothing bothered us.
We were finally relaxed.
