I Want To Be With God Alone To Ask Again To Etch In Stone

The burning bush on Mt. Sinai A sight to see before I die So, I could be with God, Alone To ask again, to etch in stone All his commandments, once again Some have forgotten all the ten Some good, some bad...we all have flaws The bitten apple- "That's because" Because Eve bit that tasty fruit And Adam raised the cane- to boot We find ourselves committing sins And dancing to sweet violins

Love the Biblical imagery here Charlie, even though I’m agnostic I sometimes use it too, this one is indeed cleverly put together, Adam raised a cane (Cain)? to boot, what a great line, cheers David

Thanks David, I appreciate your feedback. I also had edited cane-Cain, thanks for pointing that out. Cheers Charlie

Yet the Son of Man died for us. Thus we still have an opportunity to atone.

I enjoyed the Biblical references in your poem. I, too, am curious about that burning bush, but I don't know if my eyes could handle it. Love the ending...committing sins and dancing to sweet violins. Well done, Charles...have a splendid evening, Sara
