I Wandered Lonely As a Leaf
I wandered lonely as a fluttering leaf,
twirling, swirling, whirling in the air,
when I found a lass weeping in grief,
she was the sweetest, gentle and fair,
wondered what made her weep so sad,
I wished I knew how to make her glad. .
she was the most beautiful maiden I ever saw
but her blue eyes were full of tears,
I wanted to caress her cheeks - she was in awe,
did she miss her beloved away for many years!
wished I could take her grief away,
she shouldn't be crying day after day!
I floated like a lonely sail-boat in the sea,
I glided in the garden, like a butterfly,
the lovely maiden didn't see me,
I wafted light among the trees high.
Dear Lass, your beloved will return soon,
you will find his ardent messages in stars and moon.
