I walked

I walked... I just walked... To escape the hum of the fluorescent light. I don't know how long, but a door appeared. I stepped inside, and I heard myself calling out from behind. "DON'T!" Which 'I' am I? How many cycles has this been—can you truly know? I know I escaped, for I shall finally call out to myself. But that "I"... was that "I" truly me? Or merely a whisper of who I strive to be? Who did that 'I' trust, to have called out to me?
