I Turned My Eyes Away

Wedge between words Seconds escape A lost chance An empty moment A simple glimpse of reassurance Might have saved a dying ember Could have rekindle a passion That has silently slipped by What might have been Becomes what is lost And a sadden acceptance Blamed on fate Feed on neglect Leads to departure Too proud to show the need Too proud to say I love You
