I, the Lover

Mind if I tell you, honestly, I’m really not Into raucous voices and fists raised in anger Who tear down rather than build up …. Call me a lover of what is right and good, Focusing not on negativity, destruction, or even change! I revel in the beautiful things that surround me The sunshine, the flowers, the birds that serenade The smile of the newborn, happy laughter, And good writing … poems that tell a compelling story Sharing the extraordinary someone else has experienced Written in simple terms; I love to travel, to learn There are other fine people in other parts of the world Whose culture is rich, perhaps, even richer than our own Still, I love my country. My America! America, my home. Love triumphs over hate, meanness, and derision, And I want to leave this world knowing I have triumphed!

This is so positive and full of optimism and hope. "I revel in the beautiful things that surround me The sunshine, the flowers, the birds that serenade The smile of the newborn, happy laughter, And good writing … poems that tell a compelling story" An inspiration!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful, kind affirmation, Caren. I am now through with this series sharing more of who I am and what I believe. I enjoyed writing these. The last one is I, the Libertarian.

Words of inspiration, Milton. You said everything that needed to be said. Some people like to argue they seem to get aroused by it, I turn my back on those. My artwork reflects the love of nature my poetry does to.Enjoyed reading

Eve, thank you so much for your thoughts. This little series of Free Verse poems came about when I saw a contest on our philosophy of life. I couldn't condense it all for a contest, so I decided to share in these poems. I appreciate your kind read and affirmation.

Good, Great, and Superb, Milt. We all can and should rise above the 'raucous roar.' Inspirational words of wisdom. Thanks, Gershon

Thanks so much, Gershon. I really appreciate your comment. By the way, I am working on the pope poem (just between you and me).

Aside from not being American… if I were inclined to write about the ‘inside’ stuff, I could have easily asked myself the question… when the hell did I write this? A very nice write indeed, Milt. Like it lots [and I really don’t do free verse!] Terry

Some people are not aware of the beauty that surrounds us. The same people do not give any thought to integrity, fairness or morals of any sort. Who are the fortunate ones?

Like religion, government is dedicated to doing people out of their property "for the common good", but I have certainly enjoyed watching people succeed in life despite the odds!
