Oh, there are deep and ugly scars on my heart,
that will stay forever until the decay of all memory;
but somehow, yes somehow I must make this pain depart,
forgive the spoken, mean words that leave me in agony.
How can my family who claim love hurt me so deeply?
Perhaps, it is because of that love the dagger plunged,
however, inside of me is the power to forgive sweetly;
oh, will I ever really, can I forget this love challenged.
But, I must, I will and I do forgive their careless words,
although no one will ever guess the pain that dwells within;
and I will make a new family of friends and never go backwards,
forgiving, yes this will set me free and only then can I begin.
